I finally updated my portfolio, and boooooiiiiiii am I proud of it! 😅✨

Y’all know where to look for it (bink in lio), but let me tell you—one of the toughest parts was deciding which categories to lean into. Cue existential crisis #457. Honestly, this whole website remodel was just another internal deep dive after another, which might just be who I am as a person.

I see the appeal of having a niche, but I’ve never been great at choosing just one thing—I enjoy too many! 🌍 After silencing my inner perfectionist (we had some dark nights), I decided to create four galleries that reflect the many layers of my work. Each one has a theme, but there’s so much more inside.

Here’s the breakdown:

Step back in time to the Wild West! Swipe to see how this Arizona ghost town has risen from the dust of history. Can you feel the spirits of the past?

Vulture City was the site of the most lucrative gold mine in Arizona. In 1863, Henry Wickenburg, a California gold prospector, found a quartz outcropping with gold, which led to the opening of the Vulture Mine. The town boomed, with over 5,000 people and all the essential amenities of a city: a post office, hotel, school, brothel and many saloons.

During its boom, from 1863 to 1942, the mine produced 340,000 ounces of gold and 260,000 ounces of silver! They could grow food for their increasing population using irrigation channels built by indigenous peoples.

In 1942, the first indicator of a bust came to Vulture City. WWII was in full swing, and all nonessential businesses were halted to redirect resources toward the war. An appeal allowed the mine to reopen, but it never regained momentum. A few short years later, it closed seemingly for good.

It has recently been reopened by a private entity and is no longer open to the public.

A beautiful couple from Canada have invested their heart, time and expertise into restoring the townsite for visitors! They've done an incredible job creating an immersive museum that feels genuine. I was so impressed by how they approached the dark history of mining and the 1800s. They don't hide or glorify it. It is tastefully educational and honest.

Preserving boom-and-bust towns is vital to learning about history, environmental impact and cultural heritage. These towns tell stories of the people who built them and the technology available to them. They attract a wide range of visitors, from history enthusiasts to paranormal investigators, emphasizing the importance of maintaining them for diverse cultural experiences. They also remind us of the need for sustainable development and the balance between growth and conservation.
